Per attending Dr. Jim Murphy's suggestion, the residents started participating in the annual SD Century bike ride in North County in 2014. Fortunately the ride includes a 67-mile "metric century" option for the residents, including this year Dr. Long Pham, Dr. Erin Gillespie, and Dr. Adam Yock (medical physics resident). Jim is not pictured because he had probably already summited the mountain to Ramona on the 100-mile course!
Pictured below is former resident Dr. Danny Simpson with his family and Dr. Mundt at Varhegy (Castle Hill) overlooking the Danube in Budapest after Danny's international rotation in Vienna.
The "Breast Team" meets every few months to discuss recent publications and develops a consensus for our department's approach to the management of breast cancer. This meeting happened to be held at attending Dr. Sanghvi's house.
Dr. Mell and Dr. Simpson search around for their golf balls while Dr. Gillespie knocks in a par at Carmel Mountain Ranch.
UC San Diego is the team health care provider for the San Diego Charger's professional football team, so every couple years our department sneaks into the UC San Diego box for a game. This one happened to be pre-season against the Seahawks who went on to win the Super Bowl!
