The majority of the RMAS Department Research Programs are currently grouped together within the Center for Translational Radiation Medicine and Imaging (CTRMI) located on the 4th floor of the new Altman Clinical Translational Research Institute in close proximity to the Jacobs Medical Center. Basic Science Department Research Labs are located on the lower level of the Altman Institute as well as within the Moores Cancer Center.

The Altman Institute is a 360,000 square foot facility with both clinical and laboratory space, with predominantly “dry” versus “wet” labs.  It is part of a national consortium of 60 medical research institutions created to foster bench-to-bedside research.  Multiple research centers are based in the Altman Institute including the Shiley-Marcus Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center, the Musculoskeletal Science Center, and the Center for Multimodal Imaging and Genomics.
